Australische Surfschule lässt Schüler nur mit “Shark Shield” ins Wasser


Das Städtchen Terrigal in Australien hat nun entschieden, dass Schüler des “Haven Education Centre” nur mit einem “Shark Shield” am Fuß ins Wasser dürfen.

Diese Maßnahme wurde aufgrund der vermehrten Hai Attacken in der Region eingeführt. Der Schuldirektor Chris Kokegei äusserte sich dem Daily Telegraph wie folgt:
“The kids have been so nervous about going in the water after all the shark scares this year. We had to do something to make them feel comfortable again. I’ve been looking into all the different shark repellent technology for years and research in South Africa and Western Australia clearly shows this is the best. Shark nets hurt marine life, other than target sharks. But the Shark Shield doesn’t.”
