O Neill Close Encounter

Paul Grey geht mit Team O Neill auf Entdeckungstour nach Marokko.

Vom 09.01 – 19.01 trifft sich Team O´Neill in Marokko, besser gesagt in Imsouanse. Dabei sind sieben Teamfahrer aus sieben verschiedenen europäischen Länden und die drei internationalen Helden Mark Mathews, Cory Lopez und Shaun Cansdell. Grund für den Trip ist ganz einfach; Wellen mit Freunden Teilen und von einander lernen. Der Teamspirit soll verstärkt und die marokkanische Küste entdeckt werden. Mit dabei ist auch der deutsche Paul Grey, der in das schicke und für den Trip zur Verfügung stehende BoardX Surfhouse einziehen wird. Bei solch einem Freesurf-Trip sind spektakuläre Fotos und Videos garantiert, die ihr in vollem Umfang demnächst hier und in der April SURFERS Printausgabe bewundern könnt.

°Mark Mathews (Australia)
He has a reputation as a big wave rider and is considered to be one of the world’s most complete watermen. These days, Mark still loves to ride giants and has a leading role in the big wave film of the Bra Boys ‘Still Standing’.

°Shaun Cansdell (Australia)
Twofold world champion Mick Fanning calls his countryman Shaun Cansdell the most underestimated surfer in the world. Some consider him as the very best goofy footer.

°Cory Lopez (USA)
Cory Lopez is a man of extremes. He charges massive, barreling waves.

Local heroes

°Axier Muniain (Spain)
Axier Muniain made his name by his two nominations for the XXL Awards. He is one of the strongest big wave riders on this planet.

°Joackim Guichard (Portugal)
Joackim and his twin brother Luca were born in Oslo. Fortunately their French father and Norwegian mother choose for the warmth of the Portuguese coast. Joackim scores well with his explosive style.

°Christophe Allary (France)
Christophe Allary grew up in his father’s house, in the immediate vicinity of a surf spot on La Réunion. He devoted his youth completely to his surf career and his motivation is expressed in his surfing style.

°Micah Lester (United Kingdom)
Once in Australia Micah Lester challenged the best in the world and was coached by the greatest names. He ended up in the United Kingdom and became national champion. Nowadays he uses his years of experience to train new talent.

°Paul Grey (Germany).
At the age of ten Paul Grey moved from Berlin to Portugal where he started surfing. Afterwards he joined the German national team and became second in the German championship. To the question whether there is a woman in his life Paul answered: “I am in love with surfing, engaged to my wax and married to my board.”

°Pascal van der Mast (The Netherlands)
Pascal van der Mast is surfing an awful lot in The Netherlands. Pascal is the talent of the Low Countries and won the national junior title four times already.

°Niels Musschoot (Belgium)
He took his first steps on a surfboard in the North Sea waves. His father moved to Fuerteventura and Niels left school to become the most extreme surfer of his country. He is the first Belgian to surf mountains of water.
