Auch auf Hawaii gab es am Wochenende einen Sieger zu feiern. Der von der schönen Insel Kauai stammende Sebastien Zietz liess sich von den grossen Namen der World Tour wie Julian Wilson, John John Florence & Co nicht einschüchtern und gewann den Reef Hawaiian Pro 2012. Im Finale musste er sich gegen den diesjährigen Überflieger John John Florence, Fred Patacchia und Alejo Muniz unter Beweis stellen. Sebastien darf sich nicht nur über die $40,000,- Siegerprämie freuen sondern auch über die Qualifikation zur ASP World Tour 2013.

„Coming into it I was definitely thinking I wanted to qualify (for the 2013 tour) but I never would have imagined I’d be in the running for the Triple Crown. Sunset’s a tricky one for me. I’ve never really done good there, but I’ve never done too well at Haleiwa either, so hopefully this could be my year. If I get into Pipe, I’ll be super ecstatic, I love surfing contests there.“ so Zietz
